Peach Banana Kefir Spinach Smoothie

Plain kefir gives peach and banana a tangier base than milk. Spinach adds leaves and frozen peach chills the mixture. This recipe suits someone who enjoys kefir and wants its flavor noticeable instead of covering it with a strongly flavored juice.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 cup plain kefir
  • 1 cup frozen peaches
  • 0.5 banana, peeled

Directions

  1. Put the measured liquid in the blender with the prepared leafy greens. Secure the lid and process until the leaves are finely dispersed, stopping the machine before scraping down the sides if needed.
  2. Add the remaining edible ingredients, including the measured fruit, nuts, seeds, or spices listed for this recipe. Blend until evenly combined. Use the machine instructions to choose a suitable speed, and stop before checking texture or scraping the jug.
  3. Taste a small spoonful after blending. If the mixture is too thick to pour, add cold water one tablespoon at a time and blend briefly again. Divide the base batch into 1 serving and enjoy promptly.

Tips and ingredient notes

Choose plain dairy kefir, not a sweetened fruit product, and shake before measuring. Banana softens the tang, but brand differences remain. Compare kefir products using the same fruit proportions for a useful comparison.

Check fresh peaches for stones before measuring the flesh. Frozen slices offer convenience, but should be separated before blending. Skin may remain visible in the finished drink; that is different from finding hard pieces of fruit that still need processing.

Use plain dairy kefir for this version and stir or shake it before measuring. Its tang varies by brand and batch. Keep fruit proportions unchanged when comparing kefir products so you can identify the effect of the dairy base itself.

A banana with a few brown speckles gives a different sweetness from a firm, barely ripe one. Slice it before freezing, keeping pieces separate. This makes measuring easier and avoids a large frozen mass that the blender cannot move.
