Green Smoothies

Kale Pineapple Avocado Smoothie

Kale has a more assertive flavor than many smoothie fruits, so pineapple and lime are useful partners. Avocado gives the mixture a creamy body, while ginger adds a little warmth. This version is intended for people who enjoy a green smoothie with a noticeable vegetable character.

The original recipe uses handfuls for several ingredients. Here, measured amounts provide a repeatable starting point for your kitchen. Because those measurements and the water quantity are editorial choices, adjust the texture gradually and keep a note of any changes you want to repeat.

Tips and variations

Removing tough kale stems makes blending easier and avoids a stringy finish. If your blender is less powerful, chop the leaves finely before adding them. Cashews may still leave a little texture; different machines produce different results.

The optional banana makes the flavor fruitier and changes the yield. Start without it if you prefer a sharper green drink. Use a small amount of ginger initially because its intensity varies. For preparation ahead, keep the washed greens and prepared fruit chilled separately, then blend when ready. This recipe contains cashews, so include that information wherever you serve or share it.
