Tomato, celery, lime, and green onion give kale a savory direction. Garlic and cayenne add a stronger finish, so this suits someone who enjoys vegetable drinks. Ripe tomatoes supply most of the liquid needed at the beginning of blending.

Ingredients
- 1 cup kale stems removed
- 1.5 cup tomato
- 0.5 stalk celery
- 1 stalk green onions
- 0.5 garlic clove
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 0.125 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- pinch sea salt, unrefined
Directions
- Place the juiciest prepared fruit or vegetables near the blender blades, followed by the softer ingredients. Begin blending gently so they release liquid. If the machine cannot move the mixture, stop and add a small splash of cold water.
- Add the remaining edible ingredients, including the measured fruit, nuts, seeds, or spices listed for this recipe. Blend until evenly combined. Use the machine instructions to choose a suitable speed, and stop before checking texture or scraping the jug.
- Taste a small spoonful after blending. If the mixture is too thick to pour, add cold water one tablespoon at a time and blend briefly again. Divide the base batch into 1 serving and enjoy promptly.
Notes
Prepared ingredients are required; additional cooking, cooling, freezing, brewing, or soaking time is excluded from the active prep estimate. Serving volume and nutrition totals are not measured.

Tips and ingredient notes
Remove hard tomato stem attachments. Break down tomato near the blades before adding all the leaves. Keep garlic and cayenne measured, since even small amounts can dominate a single vegetable smoothie.
Cut celery across its fibers into small pieces before blending. Remove damaged portions and wash well around the base. A long intact stalk can leave strings even when juicy fruit is smooth, so preparation matters more than simply extending the blending time.
Remove the thickest kale stems and cut larger leaves into strips. Measure the prepared leaves rather than an untrimmed bunch. Starting with greens and liquid gives the machine more room to break down fibers before frozen ingredients fill the jug.
