Apple, oats, cinnamon, and dates give this spinach smoothie a breakfast flavor. Oat milk carries the mixture and nutmeg adds a stronger spice accent. This version is chilled, adapting the warm preparation of its source for a regular household blender.

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoon gluten-free rolled oats
- 2 Medjool dates, pitted
- 1 cup unsweetened oat milk
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 apple cored and sliced
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 0.125 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 0.25 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
Directions
- Put the measured liquid in the blender with the prepared leafy greens. Secure the lid and process until the leaves are finely dispersed, stopping the machine before scraping down the sides if needed.
- Add the remaining edible ingredients, including the measured fruit, nuts, seeds, or spices listed for this recipe. Blend until evenly combined. Use the machine instructions to choose a suitable speed, and stop before checking texture or scraping the jug.
- Taste a small spoonful after blending. If the mixture is too thick to pour, add cold water one tablespoon at a time and blend briefly again. Divide the base batch into 1 serving and enjoy promptly.
Notes
Prepared ingredients are required; additional cooking, cooling, freezing, brewing, or soaking time is excluded from the active prep estimate. Serving volume and nutrition totals are not measured.

Tips and ingredient notes
Core and thinly slice the apple. Let oats soften in the measured milk while preparing fruit if you prefer a smoother result. Keep nutmeg measured so it does not dominate the cinnamon.
Remove the full apple core, including seeds and hard stem attachments. Small pieces blend more readily than large wedges. Washed peel can stay where your machine handles it well, but a coarse texture may call for peeling in a later version.
Rolled oats contribute texture that changes with blending and resting time. Letting them sit in the measured liquid while preparing the other ingredients can soften the result. Keep that liquid in the recipe rather than draining it and accidentally changing the proportions.
Ingredient health benefits
- Oats contribute whole-grain fiber to the ingredient mixture.
- Spinach contributes iron, used in oxygen-carrying hemoglobin.
