Sweet Potato Mango Cinnamon Green Smoothie

Cooked sweet potato gives mango, spinach, and almond milk a soft, substantial body. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla provide seasonal flavor without a separate sweetener. Mango supplies a fruit note that distinguishes this from a plain sweet-potato-and-milk blend.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain cooked sweet potato, cooled and diced
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 tablespoon water
  • 0.5 cup frozen mango chunks
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla bean powder or vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Put the measured liquid in the blender with the prepared leafy greens. Secure the lid and process until the leaves are finely dispersed, stopping the machine before scraping down the sides if needed.
  2. Add the remaining edible ingredients, including the measured fruit, nuts, seeds, or spices listed for this recipe. Blend until evenly combined. Use the machine instructions to choose a suitable speed, and stop before checking texture or scraping the jug.
  3. Taste a small spoonful after blending. If the mixture is too thick to pour, add cold water one tablespoon at a time and blend briefly again. Divide the base batch into 1 serving and enjoy promptly.

Notes

Tips and ingredient notes

Cook sweet potato until tender and cool completely. Use plain seasoning and remove tough skin if needed. Measure nutmeg carefully because its small listed portion gives a noticeable flavor to the finished smoothie.

Measure mango after removing skin and the flat central stone. Frozen pieces give a more repeatable portion than estimating a whole fruit. Break apart any pieces stuck together before blending, especially when other ingredients are frozen too.

Wash loose spinach well and drain it before measuring. Blend leaves with the listed liquid before adding dense frozen ingredients. This helps prevent intact leaves from collecting above the blades, particularly in a smaller or less powerful blender.

Ingredient health benefits

  • Sweet potato contributes carotenoids that the body can convert into vitamin A.
  • Mango adds dietary fiber, which supports normal bowel function.
